THE TBT SEMIFINALS TIP OFF ON SUNDAY

From thetournament.com :

(4) Golden Eagles vs (8) Red Scare, 4 pm, ESPN

t’s a matchup of midwestern alumni teams, with the winner headed to the $1 million title game on Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles look to win their first TBT title after falling just short against Carmen’s Crew in last year’s championship game. The Marquette University alumni squad relies on the scoring of Darius Johnson-Odom (19.5 ppg), Dwight Buycks (15.5 ppg) and Jamil Wilson (14.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg). Elgin Cook provides a strong inside presence, and the speedy Maurice Acker can get hot from beyond the arc. The Red Scaresurvived a late run from House of Paign in the Round of 8 and makes its first trip to the TBT semi-finals. Ryan Mikesell (15.0 ppg) and Ryan McMahon (14.0 ppg) pace the offense for the University of Dayton alumni team. Devin Oliver does a little bit of everything, averaging 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game.

(2) Overseas Elite vs (22) Sideline Cancer, 6 pm, ESPN

It’s David vs. Goliath for a spot in the $1 million title game on Tuesday night. Sideline Cancer is the Cinderella story of this year’s tournament. Playing to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer, Sideline Cancer is the only one of the four semi-final teams to have advanced to the penultimate game without a bye. Marcus Keene (19.3 ppg) is TBT’s third-leading scorer among remaining players, and Eric Thompson’s 13.7 rebounds per game are tops in the tournament. Maurice Creek (16.0 ppg) and Remy Abell (15.3 ppg) each contribute on the offensive end. Sideline Cancer allows just 68.3 points per game, the lowest of any remaining team. Overseas Elite checks in with another loaded roster, despite missing most of the key pieces from the championship run. The four-time TBT champions, who are now 31-1 over five years in TBT, will count on seven-time NBA All-Star Joe Johnson to carry the offensive load. The 18-year NBA veteran poured in a 2020 TBT-high 35 points in the Round of 8 win over Herd That and is TBT’s leading scorer among remaining players at 24.0 points per game. Pooh Jeter (15.5 ppg) and Frank Session (14.5 ppg) help on the offensive
